Which is why the Summer Solstice Parade at the Fremont Fair near Seattle is such a great time. Each year hundreds of men and women take off their clothes, put on some body paint, and ride ahead of the parade through the streets. The crowd lining the route is young and old, men and women, gay and straight, families, couples and singles of every race. And they’ll all happy, smiling and enjoying the great energy created when people relax and have fun.
The body painting ranges from simple (all one color) to psychedelic to themes. We have to admit liking the ones that portray a conventional theme, but done nude. Like the bride and groom, or policeman, geisha girls, Homer Simpson or Wonder Woman. But whatever your taste, whatever your beliefs about your own body, you have to appreciate a couple hundred people who are willing to get naked, get painted and bring so many smiles and so much fun to Fremont and the world.
