The 6th Annual Bare Burro Nude 5K – Sunday April 19, 2015
Over the last 5 years it’s become one of the biggest nude runs in the country with a great mix of ages, genders and running abilities. The 2014 event had over 250 runners, with the top finisher at 21:01, which is quite impressive for a technical trail run with lots of hills.
This is a nude 5K trail run/walk through the beautiful foothills of Olive Dell Ranch. All participants run or walk nude (shoes allowed – and encouraged). The run is primarily dirt fire roads, with some asphalt and a few sections of dirt trail. It’s a technical course designed for fun and enjoyment. There are amazing views of the countryside. Donkeys roam throughout the canyon and you may even get a glimpse of one! Throughout the course, volunteers will be handing out water to help keep you quenched as you go along.
Participants range from accomplished runners, running clubs, men, women, young and old – looking for healthy, fun exercise in a natural setting. Whether you run, walk or some combination – it’s a fun and totally unique experience.
This year, drawstring back packs are included for everyone who pre-registers, and while supplies last on race day.
The race begins and ends at the clubhouse by the swimming pool. (There is a large Jacuzzi, sun deck, restaurant, bar and showers. All facilities are open to race participants for the entire day).
Suggested items to bring with you:
- Keep yourself well hydrated before, during and after the race
- Towel to sit on (This is nudist etiquette)
- Money for restaurant and refreshment bar
- Good running shoes
- Sandals or flip-flops for afterwards
- Shower available if you want to get cleaned up, afterwards
- Flashlight -if you plan to stay the night
A word about vehicle keys: where do you put them when you have no pockets? We have a place you can securely check them while you’re out on the run, or enjoying the facilities.
We’re looking for fun-loving individuals, couples and clubs to come challenge themselves, challenge each other and enjoy the natural freedoms of a truly unique running event. To see what a few participants had to say you can check out the blogs from the 2014 winner, as well as a first time woman participant. Online registration is available at Active.com and the mail-in registrations will soon be available to download at the Bare Burro Event page on OliveDell.com
